A kinetic study of methanol oxidation over SiO2

2000
Abstract We studied the kinetics of methanol oxidation over SiO 2 in the temperature range of 400–600°C to investigate the oxidation pathway of methanol. The experimental results indicated that methanol was first oxidized to formaldehyde, then oxidized to CO. A kinetic model for methanol oxidation is proposed, and the rate constant and activation energy in each elemental reaction pathway is calculated.
