Atributos químicos e microbiológicos avaliados em sistemas de cultivos agrícolas e florestais Microbiological and chemical attributes evaluated in crop and forest systems

2008
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of different crop and forest systems on soil microbial biomass, its activity and its derived indexes. The methods of the fumigation-extraction and basal respiration were us ed to evaluation the biomass and activity microbials, respectivelly. Soil samples we re collected in a Typic Hapludox, in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil, at 0-0. 10 m depth. The evaluations were carried out in production systems: (1) guandu ( Cajanus cajan ); (2) cultivation of vegetables (lettuce, cabbage and beet); (3) common bean, outsi de of Mandala; (4) re-forest with several Cerrado native species; and (5) eucalyptus crop. For comparison, were assessed Cerrado native system. The studies showed that, in general, changes in soil caused by agricultural or forestry practice provide a reducti on in soil quality, considering the microbiological and chemical soil parameters, and t hat diversity of species in agricultural crops or forest can promote the maintenance of soil quality.
