DEVELOPMENT OF FACIAL-DIRECTION DETECTION SENSOR

The authors have developed a driver face direction sensor that detects the direction of the driver's face and determines whether or not they are not facing the front of the vehicle. The driver face detection sensor is comprised of a camera located in the vicinity of the steering wheel column and an image processing ECU. This paper will give an outline of the functions for detecting driver facial direction and gives details of the algorithm used in the driver face detection sensor.
