Observations, ray-tracing, and data assimilation in the assessment and visualization of aerosols, clouds, and land surface in numerical models

A 3-dimensional ray-tracing package was developed to create visually realistic, model-simulated images of weather and the land surface. The software is used to create and evaluate observationally based digital analyses of cloud and aerosol properties, and visualize the model environment.
