Effect of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing intervention on blood glucose control in diabetic patients

2017
Objective To evaluate the effect of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing intervention on blood glucose control in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods A total of 138 patients with DM in our hospital from January 2015 to December 2016 were randomly divided into two groups according to the digital table method. The control group (n=69) received routine nursing care, and the observation group (n=69) received integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing intervention on the basis of the control group. The clinical nursing effect and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate was 98.55% in the observation group, significantly higher than that in the control group (78.26%) (χ2=13.856 6, P<0.05). The blood glucose level of the two groups decreased after the intervention, while the levels of fasting blood glucose and 2h postprandial blood glucose decreased more significantly in the observation group (t=15.933, 11.050; P<0.05). The degree of satisfaction was 100.00% in the observation group, significantly higher than that in the control group (79.71%) (χ2=15.580 6, P<0.05). Conclusion Integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine nursing intervention has satisfactory blood glucose control effect for patients with DM, with distinct curative effect, the patients' nursing satisfaction is significantly improved, worthy to be popularized and applied in clinical nursing work.
