Finite element modelling of crack propagation in ductile fracture

Abstract In this communication, a new approach is introduced for handling finite elements in the automatic simulation of ductile fracture. The method allows for the automatic elimination of elements based on criteria such as critical plastic strain or stress triaxiality.
