EXPERIMENTAL RELATIONS OF WATER MOVEMENT IN UNSATURATED SOILS

1965
Water was adsorbed by horizontal and vertical columns of three soil materials. The soil materials were Superstition loamy sand, Holtville fine sandy loam and Columbia silt loam. From the infiltration equations it was established that only two terms of a polynomial expansion were needed to adequately solve the infiltration equation, and that the first term is the same for both the horizontal and vertical cases. Soil columns run at various negative pressures at the glass bead plate did not deviate from the linear square root of time versus distance relation for the horizontal case. /Author/
