Signal analysis applied to detect blockages in pressure and differential pressure measurement systems

1994
Current developments in intelligent measurement systems demand that the instruments should be designed to provide measurement signal of high quality. This implies that initial emphasis should be placed on ensuring the integrity of the measurement system. This also means that, in addition to the measurand signal, a measurement system should provide an indication of its operational status, as well as that of the associated plant. The condition signals are necessary to validate the measurand signal when there is suspicion of malfunction or fault conditions within the plant. This paper is a continuation of the IMTC93 paper (May 1993). Here additional results of studies carried out on pressure and differential pressure measurement systems are presented. The focus is on the analysis of the noise in the conventional output signals from commercially available pressure and differential pressure measurement systems to detect blockages in the process connections. >
