Efecto de una consejería de enfermería sobre factores de riesgo cardiovascular modificables dirigida a empleados

Objective: To evaluate the effect of a nursing counseling intervention addressed to the control of modifiable cardiovascular risk factors in employees of a Public University. Materials and methods: Pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test, n=54, statistical analysis with SPSS 17, Kolmogorv-Smirnov test to estimate the data for normality. Comparison of means using the parametric approach, admitted significance level of 0.05. Results: the average age of participants in this study was45.52 years (SD=10.310), the average length of service is 17.19 years of work in the same institution (SD=9.443), regarding sex, men comprise 55.6%. Pre-test: 75.8% does not smoke tobacco, 43.5% does not drink alcoholic drinks, 46.8% carries out physical activity; total cholesterol levels in women, mean=162.45 (SD=41.89), (p=0.000), total cholesterol levels in men, mean=157.26, (SD=44.45), (p=0.000). Pos-test: 79% does not smoke tobacco, 50% does not drink alcoholic drinks, 73.4% carries out physical activity; total cholesterol levels in women,mean=151.20 (SD=30.31), (p=0.000), total cholesterol levels in men, mean=149.93, (SD=29.23), (p=0.000). Conclusion: a positive effect in the nursing counseling intervention was observed, in reduction of total cholesterol, cardiovascular risk, and blood pressure in both sexes; BMI decreased in women, and atherogenicity decreased in men.
