A novel method for preparing zinc oxide nanoparticals with photoluminescence at room temperature

2004
A new electrolysis method was developed for preparation of zinc oxide(ZnO)par-ticles,which gave visible photoluminescence at room temperature. The new preparation method of ZnO presents advantages over the traditional techniques. The raw materials can be obtained easily and the equipment is not expensive. The reaction conditions are moderate and the technique is less hazardous and more environmentally friendly. The electrolyzed products were studied using X-ray diffraction(XRD),transparent electron microscopy(TEM). Measurements of optical transmission spectra was used to perform the structural and the optical characterizations of the ZnO. The results show that the ZnO particles have wurtzite structure with random orientation and strong visible photoluminescence at room temperature.
