There's a Song in the Air

1916
He was born in Belchertown, Mass., July 24, 1819, and died in New York on October 12, 1881. Mr. Holland became first a physician, then a teacher, and finally found his life-work as an editor. Until 1866 he was a member of the editorial staff of that admirable newspaper, the Springfield (Mass) “Republican.” In the columns of the “Republican” appeared Dr. Holland’s “Timothy Titcomb Letters,” whose quaint humor and sturdy common sense won for them universal favor. They appeared in book form in 1858, and several volumes of similar writing followed them.
