Aortic Valve Stenosis as a Cause of Major Systemic Embolism: A Case Report
1998
This is the first documented case of a patient suffering from embolic occlusion of the left brachial artery caused by a large embolus growing on a lesion of a stenosed calcified aortic valve. Supported by their own additional observations the authors suggest that severe calcified aortic valve stenosis should be considered as an indication for anticoag ulation in the period before surgical valve replacement.
