The Performance of LID Treatment Train in Shenzhen University during Extreme Storm Events

This paper reports the performance of LID facilities in Shenzhen University Civil Engineering College complex during two extreme storm events on March 31 and May 11 of 2014. The first event is the largest one of March since Shenzhen installed gage records. The average depth for 24 hours duration is 195.9mm, the maximum depth for 24 hours duration is 284.1mm, and the maximum hourly depth is 116.2mm. The second one was classified as a 50-year event. The average and maximum depth for 15 hours duration is 223.6mm and 445.6mm respectively. During the first event the overflow occurred only at the lower outlet. The facilities were completed drained out within 24 hours. During the second event overflow occurred at the both lower and higher outlets, but there were no accumulative water in the designed drainage area compared to the rest of the campus that had been flooded for 3-6 hours.
