REALIZATION OF A STRONGLY IONIZED PLASMA OWING TO THE COMBINATION OF THE PINCH EFFECT AND OF A "LUNATE" MAGNETIC GEOMETRY

An apparatus is described which permits the obtention of a very hot plasma by two successive discharges. The first discharge operates by the pinch effect; the second exploits the "lunate" geometry (suggested by Grad), which assures a stable confinement of the hot plasma thus created.
