Development of Ba-SAPO-34 Zeolite Membrane for Separation of CO2 in the Binary Gas Mixtures

2014
Ba-SAPO-34 zeolite membrane was formed by membrane synthesis process using microwave (MW) heating and followed by membrane ion-exchange process with Ba 2+ cation. The Ba-SAPO-34 zeolite membrane was tested for the separation of CO 2 from the CO 2 /CH 4 binary gas mixture. The effects of separation temperature, pressure difference across the membrane and CO 2 concentration in the feed on the separation performance of the Ba-SAPO-34 membrane were studied. By feeding CO 2 /CH 4 binary mixture with 5–50 % CO 2 to the Ba-SAPO-34 at 303 K and 100 kPa pressure difference, high CO 2 /CH 4 separation selectivities in the range of 103–276 were obtained.
