SSR marker mapping and marker-assisted selection of Rf gene in pepper.

A F2 population derived from 113A×139 were genotyped with 175 SSR that are evenly distributed on pepper linkage ma.SSR markers AF208834 was found to be linked to the cytoplasmic male sterility fertility restorer gene Rf for in pepper(Capsicum annuum L.).Genetic analysis showed that fertility restoration is controlled by a major Rf gene located at chromosome 6.The genetic distances between Rf and SSR marker AF208834 was 20.8 cM.In our test 30 out of 36 materials carrying the marker were true in restoring fertility,the accuracy is 83.33%.We selected 41 fertility restorers from 108 breeding materials using the marker discovered from this study.The marker developed from this study should be useful in pepper male-sterility breeding.
