Over the past few years a lot of research has been done into the improvement of animal production efficiency with the main focus on breeding, the availability of (micro) nutrients and advances in formulation/simulation models. However, a lot of time and effort is being channelled into feed additive research and its effect on animal production, health (by enhancing immunity and gut health, antioxidant capabilities, as well as potential anti-methanogenic properties) and ultimately profitability.
