Design of a graph-representation and a fuzzy-classifier for human chromosomes

1980
Abstract The subject of this paper is to set up some flexible subsystems for the automated karyotyping of human chromosomes. An algorithm based on a split and merge procedure is used to describe the chromosome profile in a tree structure. By defining supplementary branches between the tree nodes, nodes which correspond with the black and bright intervals of the profile, a graphical description of the chromosome can be generated. In order to interpret this graph, especially the features and relation assignments to the nodes and branches, some operators based on fuzzy set theory are studied. An operators aggregation structure is applied for the interpretation of chromosomes.
