Clinical analysis of bilateral asynchronous renal cell carcinoma

Objective:To investigate Clinical feature and treatment and prognosis of bilateral asynchronous renal cell carcinoma.Methods:Analysed 16 patients with bilateral asynchronous renal cell carcinoma from January 1996 to January 2006.one side radical nephrectomy had done in 16 patients,and other side nephron sparing surgery were performed in 6 patients,γ-ray in 2 patients,arterial infusion chemotherapy in 5 cases and cryosurgical ablation in 3 cases.Results:All the patients were alive in 10 months~ 66 months,and 4 patients died of brain metastasis,5 patients died of lung metastasis,3 patients died of live and lung metastasis,2 patients died of bone metastasis,and 2 patients were still alive.The median survival time was 49 months and 21 months respectively for surgery group and no-surgery group(P=0.001).The median survival time was 23 months and 40 months respectively for younger group(≤50years)and elder group(50years)(P=0.076).Conclusion:The living time of patients with bilateral asynchronous renal cell carcinoma are prolonged by active treatment.
