Two feasible mice models for neuropathy

2015
Animal models play an important role in understanding the precise mechanisms and finding the effective treatment for human diseases. One of requisite qualities of establishing model is capable of optimizing and redoing. In this current study, we present two mice models created by different methodologies for neuropathy disease with a high rate of success: (1) sciatic nerve transection and (2) streptozotocin-induced neuropathy. After created, von frey filament test and immunohistochemistry with alpha-bungarotoxin were used to confirm the change in neural response and neuromuscular junction. The result showed that in all of our repeated experiments, our mice models were induced to hyposensitive for a long time and decreased the numbers of neuromuscular junction resulted from peripheral nerve injuries. Therefore, our models could be used as one of models for neuropathy to understand deeply the pathology or find the better way to treat the neuropathic peripheral pain.
