Production planning and supply chain management under the conditions of Industry 4.0

2021
Abstract The chapter discusses the specifics of production planning and supply chain management under the conditions of Industry 4.0. The authors determine regional models of planning of production and supply chain management that exist in the modern global economy—the European and American model (applied by countries of West Europe and North America, e.g., Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States), the Asian model (applied by countries of Asia that specialize in industrial production, e.g., Japan, South Korea, and China), and the Eurasian model [applied by countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), e.g., Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Russia]. The authors perform a comparative analysis of the existing models and evaluate their applicability to production planning and supply chain management under the conditions of Industry 4.0. The necessity for creating a new framework model of production planning and supply chain management under the conditions of Industry 4.0 is substantiated, and practical recommendations for adapting this model to the specifics of regions of the world are offered.
