Solitary Fibrous Tumor of the Urinary Bladder: A Case Report

2012
Solitary fibrous tumors are rare neoplasms initially reported in the pleura and are known to originate from C D34-positive m esenchymal cells of a probable f ibroblastic type. To our knowledge, only limited cases of solitary fibrous tumors arising from the urinary bladder have been reported. Some of those underwent a radical cystectomy to cure this disease. Herein, we report on an elderly man with a huge solitary fibrous tumor who presented with lower urinary tract symptoms and a change of bowel habits; the tumor was successfully treated with wide excision.
