Method for producing a platinum electric catalyst on carbon

2016
FIELD: chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of catalysts, in particular to a process for producing an electrocatalyst of platinum on carbon for fuel cell electrodes. Object of the present invention is to provide an electrocatalyst-platinum on carbon with a metal content of 10 to 70 wt %, used as anode and cathode electrocatalysts in a fuel cell with a solid polymer electrolyte, which is a platinum nanoparticle with a narrow dimensional dispersion immobilized on the surface of carbon carriers with a high specific surface area (100–2,000 m 2 /g). Method for the preparation of platinum electrocatalysts involves the precipitation of a colloidal solution of hydrated Pt (IV) oxide obtained by acid hydrolysis, its sorption by a carbon carrier, exposure of the reaction mixture at temperatures of 70–100 °C for 1–2 hours to form surface platinum hydroxide oxides, fixation of platinum nanoparticles on a carbon carrier by means of a final reduction treatment in a hydrogen stream at a temperature of 120–250 °C or an aqueous solution of a reducing agent – formaldehyde, hydrazine, formic acid, low molecular weight aliphatic alcohols (ethanol, propanol) at a temperature of 50–100 °C or pairs of lower aliphatic alcohols of ethanol, propanol during the drying of the electrocatalyst at a temperature of 60–120 °C. Principal point is the use of precursor compounds of platinum, solvents and reagents that do not contain inorganic ions, in amounts exceeding impurity (hundreds of ppm), the absence of surfactants, the use of non-flammable (fireproof) aqueous solutions and suspensions. EFFECT: particle size of platinum obtained by this method is 2–5 nm according to electron microscopy. 3 cl, 10 dwg, 8 ex
