2015
The article presents an analysis of hospitalizations in young children with severe disorders and birth defects of the central nervous system with and without fatalities. In children with incurable diseases of the central nervous system is was not obtained relationship between the child's age and the number of hospitalizations during early childhood, child's age at the time of fatal and duration of last hospitalization of a child. Deaths occurred only in children's hospitals, and 7 children last week of their lives spent in hospital, 2 children over two weeks and 5 children died during the first five days of hospitalization. The authors suggest that there are problematic issues in palliative care in young children with incurable diseases, especially children deprived of parental care: lack of pain assessment scales and pain management standards, standards for assisting these children at the end of life settlement and legal aspects of medical professionals.
