Mathematical model for competing red blood cells in complement mediated lysis

A mathematical model of cold target competition assay for complement mediated lysis is presented. A minimal model of lysis was developed where no interaction between the competing populations of sensitized red blood cells is presumed. The model can calculate the extent of lysis from the input data with remarkable accuracy so it has been useful to explain consequences of interactions which were not predictable based on biological experience alone.
