Experimental testing for physical and functional characterization of wearing courses

A methodological-experimental approach is here given, aiming to foresee, during the phase of mix design in laboratory, the physical and functional properties of bituminous layers once in place, by means of characterization tests and by taking into account the most common raw materials, techniques for mixtures production, and laying process used in maintenance works. In detail, it has been validated a testing protocol for in situ tests for determining the functional and physical characteristics that is possible to obtain for wearing courses, as a function of the final thickness of the layer, once in place.
