Low Toxicity and High Efficiency Staining Methods with Coomassie Brilliant Blue in SDS-PAGE

Objective:To compare four kinds of staining methods with Coomassie brilliant blue(CBB) in SDS-PAGE.Methods:We compared the sensitivity and efficiency among CBB G-250 with hydrochloric acid,CBB G-250 with aluminum sulfate,Bio-Safe of Bio-Rad and the traditional method,in which BSA was run.Then,the four methods were applied to the markers detection.Results:The results demonstrated that CBB G-250 with aluminum sulfate and Bio-Safe exhibit higher sensiticity(19.2ng) than CBB G-250 with hydrochloric acid and the traditional method(28.9 ng).Conclusion:The observations support that the CBB G-250 with hydrochloric acid is an environment friendly,rapid and highly effective staining method,while the CBB G-250 with aluminum sulfate is probably more suitable for high sensitivity determination.
