Endoprothèses urétrales de Fabian (Urospiral™, Coloplast) Indications et technique de pose Fabian urethral stent (Urospiral™, Coloplast) Indications and placement technique

2008
Temporary transprostatic urethral stenting, such as Urospiral™, may be useful in the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It should be particularly recommended in BPH patients with a high surgical risk, avoiding the use of indwelling catheter. It can also be used as a therapeutic test in patients with bladder outlet obstruction or irritation, suspected to be due to neurological disorders. Urospiral™ is a temporary, non-expanding transprostatic stent with a fixed external calibre of 21F. Various lengths are available to adapt the stent to the length of the bladder neck and veru montanum. The median part of the stent maintains urinary continence. Stenting and stent removal are performed by urethrocystoscopy, after endourethral Xylocaine gel local anaesthesia.
