The structure of the CFCl3 radical anion

Abstract Exposure of trichlorofluoromethane in the presence of tetrahydropyran or some other impurities at very low concentration to 60 Co γ rays at 77 K gives the CFCl 3 − radical anion. From the analysis of its EPR spectrum and from ab initio geometry optimization, it is concluded that the anion has C 3v symmetry.
