A novel Y7O6F9 modified Li4Ti5O12 composite with the effect of inhibiting electrolyte decomposition for lithium ion batteries

2019
Abstract It is important to develop a new generation of high-rate long-cycle anodes, however, current materials are difficult to reach standards for various reasons, such as slow reaction kinetics and pulverization issue arising from huge volume change. Here, a novel Y 7 O 6 F 9 modified Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 composite (YFLTO) anode material is synthesized via a high-throughput one-step method. Due to the stability of fluoride and conductivity of metal oxide, the Y 7 O 6 F 9 exhibits excellent chemical stability, which can protect Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 from electrolyte decomposition, and greatly improves its cycle performance and rate capability. These attractive advantages ultimately enable Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 to achieve good battery performance (a capacity of 147.6 mAh g − 1 at 10C and 94.14% capacity retention over 5000 cycles). This work provides a new way to solve electrolyte decomposition.
