Experience of hospice care for 11 patients at urban community hospital

Objective To explore the practice mode of hospice care at Thirteen Community at the eastern district of Urumqi. Methods A total of 11 patients who were admitted to the hospital were treated with hospice care according to relevant standards. Results The 11 patients’ average hospitalization time was (9.11±6.96) days; The average hospitalization cost was (2 308.04±2 014.7) yuan; and the patients' pain score and family satisfaction after inpatient-home hospice care were significantly different from those at admission (P<0.05). Conclusions Inpatient-home hospice care for patients at urban community hospital can increase their and the family members’ satisfaction and decrease the cost and hospital stay, and is in line with the actual needs of the residents at the community, so it is worth for promotion and implementation.
