The article deals with the peculiarities of the formation of the pedagogical culture of specialists in machine-building specialties as a necessary condition for professional development. Since the solution of the problem is possible in the conditions of independent work, the specifics and problems of the organization of independent work of students in the process of training specialists in engineering specialties are considered in the light of modern requirements and conditions of society. The peculiarities of organization of independent work of students are analyzed, forms and methods of independent work are provided, which promote effective activization of cognitive activity of students. Since independent work is aimed at increasing the level of training of a future specialist, therefore, it involves the integration of various types of individual and collective educational activities during classroom and non-admission classes, which can take place both with the direct involvement of the teacher and without his assistance. In this context, the article examines the conditions and methods for the effective organization of independent work of students as an integral system of educational environment. It is substantiated that effective formation of pedagogical culture in the process of organization of independent work of students of institutions of higher education is possible only in conditions of ensuring the optimal combination of classroom and non-auditing work, application of the newest methods and technologies of organization of independent cognitive, scientific activity of students, taking into account the specifics of the study of professional disciplines. The didactic principles and stages of the organization of independent work of students with the purpose of formation of pedagogical culture are given.
