Nuclear operating experience review and resolution
1994
Over the past 20 yr, virtually every nuclear power facility has implemented some form of program for review and resolution of operating experience. Although the programs are established with the objective of minimizing recurrences of adverse experiences, Georgia Corporation`s analyses of plant events indicate that many facilities have been only moderately successful. At any given plant, nearly a fourth of the events are similar to previously reported events. Clearly, the hallmark of a successful operating experience program is the absence of recurrent events. One approach to improving this performance indicator has been to enhance three key program functions: getting word out to employees, managing operating experience records, and assessing program effectiveness.
