The present invention provides a laser system for detecting biomechanical properties of the cornea, comprising a laser, beam delivery module, and filter module collecting spectroscopic analysis unit, a laser for emitting a pulsed laser beam; beam transmission means for transmitting said laser beam, and the laser beam is focused to the cornea, laser-induced plasma on a surface of the optical signal of the cornea; collection module collects filtered and filtering the optical signal of the laser induced plasma; spectroscopic analysis unit of the laser-induced plasma body optical signal spectral analysis to determine the biomechanical properties of the cornea. The present invention also provides a method of determining the above-described laser system biomechanical properties of the cornea. The present invention utilizes the same laser system, real-time, accurate measurement of the biomechanical properties of the cornea and improve work efficiency.
