An Enhanced Crow Search Algorithm Applied to Energy Approaches

2020
Because of the increasing demand for electrical energy, many research areas have focused on the improvement of the efficiency in existing devices and electrical energy distribution. The induction motors parameters setting and distribution networks capacitors allocation are complex applications which are difficult to optimize due to their high multimodality. On the other hand, optimization techniques are widely used to solve complex tasks efficiently. The crow search algorithm (CSA) is a recent optimization technique based on the smart behavior of crows, this technique archives competitive results, although in multimodal problems the CSA present some limitations. In this chapter, an enhanced crow search algorithm (ECSA) is proposed to overcome the deficiencies of the original CSA. The proposed ECSA improves considerably the performance in multimodal problems regarding the original version. In order to corroborate the accuracy of proposed ECSA two complex problems are used; the induction motors parameters setting and distribution networks capacitors allocation. The experimental results show better performance and accuracy regarding similar approaches.
