Production of spherical fine particle

PURPOSE: To improve the productivity by hydrolyzing a hydrolysis-polymerizable metallic compound in the presence of an amino bond-containing polymer in an alkaline medium and dispersing the polymer in a gelatinous substance composed of a metallic oxide. CONSTITUTION: A mixture solution prepared by dissolving 100 pts.wt. amino bond-containing polymer such as poly(2-methyloxazoline) and 1-1000 pts.wt. hydrolysis-polymerizable metallic compound such as tetramethoxysilane in methanol, etc., is dropped in an alkaline medium at pH ≥8 such as a mixture solution of aqueous NH 3 with methanol at 0-50°C and made to react therewith. Thereby, hydrolysis is carried out to provide a colloidal solution containing seed grains having ≥1μm grain diameter. The solution of the amino bond-containing polymer and hydrolysis-polymerizable metallic compound in methanol and the alkaline medium are dropped into the resultant colloidal solution at 20-50°C. The hydrolyzate is added to the periphery of the seed grains to grow the seed grains. Thereby, the colloidal solution containing spherical fine grains having a prescribed grain diameter in which the amide bond-containing polymer is uniformly dispersed is obtained.
