Preparation and Characterization of Ni Mg Nano‐Particle Ferrites

2011
Nano particles of Ni1−xMgxFe2O4 (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) have been prepared by the co‐precipitation chemical method. The prepared powder has been sintered at 1073 K for 5 hours. The X‐ray diffraction analysis and IR spectroscopy ensure the formation of the required ferrites. The crystallite sizes have been calculated from the X‐ray charts and the average particle sizes have been determined by a particle size analyzer. The average particle size is found to be greater than the corresponding crystallite size for most of the samples because the X‐rays can mainly detect the crystalline (well‐ordered) part of the particle. The AC conductivity, dielectric constant and relative magnetic permeability have been measured as a function of composition. The magnetic permeability obviously decrease with increasing Mg content, whereas the behavior of the electrical properties with the variation of Mg content is not as simple as the behavior of permeability most probably due to the correlation between dielectric beha...
