Properties of cementitious materials in presence of nano carbon

2020
Abstract Cement and concrete are the most important materials in construction industry. The beauty of these materials is that they are economical and can be made in different shape. At the same time there are number of drawbacks also with these materials. Some of the drawbacks are related with sustainability and durability. Attempts have been made to overcome these drawbacks. In recent years number of nanomaterial have been added to cementitious systems to improve the properties and minimize the drawbacks. Carbon nanomaterials particularly grapheme and carbon nanotubes when added to cementitious systems, the properties are improved. In this review article the role of graphene (different forms), carbon nanotube, carbon nano fiber, mesoporous carbon, etc. in cementitious systems has been discussed.
