Applications of bionanocomposites in agriculture

Abstract Bionanocomposites are novel nanosized structures of biological origin with at least one dimension in the range of 1–100 nm. In this chapter, we aim to highlight wide applications of nanoscale composites in food, agricultural, and biomedical industries. By adding appropriate nanomaterials, it may be possible to produce packages with stronger mechanical and thermal performance, and to prevent the invasion of bacteria and microorganisms. In the present chapter, we reviewed the role of nanocomposites in agriculture to promote sustainable and environment-friendly cultivation and to reduce the burden of fertilizers and pesticides.
