Mobility Tracking inCellular Networks
2009
This paperconsiders mobility tracking inwireless communication networks based onreceived signal strength indi- cator measurements. Mobility tracking involves on-line estimation oftheposition andspeed ofamobile unit. Mobility tracking isfor- mulated asanestimation problem ofahybrid system consisting of abasestate vector andamodalstate vector. Thecommand is modelled asafirst-order Markov process which cantake values fromafinite setofacceleration levels. Inorder tocover thewide range ofacceleration changes, asetofacceleration values ispre- determined. Sequential MonteCarlo algorithms -aparticle filter (PF)andaRao-Blackwellised particlefilter (RBPF) areproposed andtheir performance evaluated overasynthetic data example.
