Water application system on the surface of photovoltaic panels to improve energy efficiency

This work presents the results of studies in a photovoltaic generation plant of 4.62 kWp, realized to implement the cooling in photovoltaic panels to improve its energy efficiency. Adaptations were made in the structure of the photovoltaic generation plant with the installation of a system for the supply and application of water on the surface of part of the panels for the cooling thereof. Measurements of the power and temperature variables were made in two configurations, one with two photovoltaic panels and the other with 12 panels, in each case in one part of the panels cooling was applied, while the other part was in its natural condition (without refrigeration). At the end, the results were analyzed in the two configurations. The results showed that there was a significant gain of approximately 10% in the conditions analyzed.
