Mitochondrial Dysfunction Partially Explains Macrocytic Anemia in HIV-Exposed Uninfected Infants
2017
Antiretroviral drugs are successfully used to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV worldwide. Hematologic and mitochondrial disturbances have been extensively reported among HIV-exposed uninfected (HEU) infants, but their pathogenic mechanisms remain largely unexplained. We aimed to analyze the relationship between mitochondrial markers and hematologic values in a large cohort of HEU infants.
