Method and apparatus for continuously applying liquor to an absorbent, compressible material web.

1987
Continuous, regulated application of liquor on to an absorbent, compressible material web involves the application of at least one liquor in amounts that lie between the value of the water absorbing capacity and the saturation value of the web. The liquor-containing web is led into a levelling system in which it is compressed temporarily in a gap to a predetermined thickness which is smaller than the material thickness beforethe levelling system. No liquor is fed to the web nor is any liquor removed from it in the levelling system so that the amount of liquor in the web remains the same before and after the system.
