Described and illustrated is a magnetic field (4) is generated to a process for flow measurement by means of a magnetic-inductive flowmeter (1) comprising a measuring tube (2) and a magnetic field generating means (3), wherein the magnetic field generating means (3) and wherein the magnetic field (4 ) is inverted at time intervals of Invertierungsintervallen. The object underlying the invention is to provide a method for measuring the flow that the detection of a zero flow error possible. The object is achieved in that the measuring tube (2) is filled with a first medium through a first measurement interval, the strength of the magnetic field (4) is measured and a time derivative of the measured strength of the magnetic field (4) for the first measurement interval it is determined that the measuring tube (2) from a second medium (9) flowing through it, is measured by a second measurement interval, the strength of the magnetic field (4) and a time derivative of the measured strength of the magnetic field (4) for the second measurement interval that a first derivative of deviation of the discharge line for the second measurement interval of the discharge pipe for the first measuring interval is determined and that the determined first derivative deviation is associated with a zero flow error is determined.
