The role of CT in acute abdominal pain

CT is the investigation of choice for renal colic.Abdominal CT will have an increasing role in the investigation of appendicitis.CT is able to suggest alternative diagnoses if the principle clinical diagnosis is unconfirmed.There should be little or no need for abdominal CT to be performed out of hours.
