Application of XML Technology in Network Management

In the SNMP-based network management system, the data of MIB are described by ASN.1 and encoded with BER, so the readability of them is not good. Since XML is self-descriptive and has structure framework, it is suitable to represent the data of MIB. This paper discusses the method of representing MIB data by XML,and implements a transformation system between SNMP and XML using this method.
