Amputación supramaleolar definitiva en pacientes sin posibilidades de rehabilitación protésica

Is made a prospective and descriptive study to 25 entered patients in the service of Angiology and Vascular Surgery of the General University Hospital �Carlos M. Cespedes�, of Bayamo, Granma in Cuba; that by its pathologies you will tilt was indicated a greater amputation of the inferior members, but to present/display associate diseases that contraindicated the rehabilitation with prosthetic, an amputation was made to him to supramalleolar definitive, with the objective to know the utility this operation in these patients, being that the greater frequency was in the group of ages between 65 and 74 years with a 40%, between the pathologies causes of the amputation; the ischaamic Diabetic Foot was the one of more frequency with a 40%, followed by neuro-infection 28%, and the obliterans atherosclerosis with 20%; between the pathologies that prevented the rehabilitation with prosthetic, the one of greater frequency it was the senile dementia with 28%, followed of terminal cancer with 16%. The type of amputation that was made more was opened 72%, satisfactorily evolved 88% of the patients, it concluded that this amputation is feasible and advantageous for the patients with these characteristics.
