Summary Prospective analysis to predict the clinical response to oral or intravenous corticosteroid therapy in active moderate-tosevere ulcerative colitis. Persistence of rectal bleeding, high levels of C-reactive protein and a high number of stools per day after three days of corticosteroid therapy are enough to predict clinical response at day seven. The authors provide a decision tree to start rescue therapies.
