Kinetics of development of 475oC embrittlement and the structure of a high-chromium ferritic steel

1990
The influence of carbon and nitrogen on the work of nucleation and development of a crack during embrittlement at 475°C of steel Kh25 is determined. Using electron microscopic investigations of thin foils, zones 5-10 nm in size are found in the interior of the grain of specimens which become brittle at 475°C. The local distortions around those zones appear to cause the reduction in mobility of dislocations in the temperature-time range of development of «475°C embrittlement»
