Transient behaviour of optimum-designed three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors

2007
This paper describes the transient behaviour of optimum-designed three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. These motors have been designed based upon three different objective functions. They are cost, efficiency and combination of efficiency-cost functions. Transient performance of these optimum designs and an industrial motor are compared and a suitable design for a particular fault is then introduced. A symmetrical voltage disturbance, startup and a symmetrical three-phase short circuit are three cases considered in this investigation.
